Chapter 12: Lightning – Nature’s Electric Show
Lightning is a giant spark of electricity in the sky. It happens during storms when electricity builds up in the clouds and needs to escape. The electricity then jumps from the cloud to the ground, creating a flash of light.
The loud sound you hear after lightning is called thunder. Lightning heats the air so quickly that it creates a shock wave, which we hear as thunder.
